The Extreme Pro Stock (XPS) class in the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) continues to get deeper. The popular Team “O” Motorsports has unveiled its plan to run in the loaded XPS class for the 2011 ADRL Tour with plenty of big aspirations and plans in mind. The teams’ Texas flag-themed car is ready for 2011 in Texas Pro Stock trim, complete with a new NRC-Slick Rick Cylinder Heads bullet.Driver Richard Otwell will be behind the wheel for the full schedule in the upcoming season in one of the most exciting classes in the ADRL.But that’s not the only news for the Texas-based team. They have recently purchased another GXP car that is loaded with a Sonny Leonard engine. That XPS car will see a limited ADRL schedule in 2011, pending successful early season testing. The 2011 ADRL Tour begins March 25-26 at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas with UTI Dragpalooza VII presented by Safety-Kleen. “Given the amount of time before preseason testing starts,” Gary Lidiak, Team ‘O’ Marketing Rep, said, “we just didn’t feel it would be beneficial to us taking two cars and swapping them into different class setups.”Team “O,” which also features Extreme 10.5 standout Jeff Naiser, will take a unique approach into the 2011 season.Team “O” plans to try things a little differently, becoming another entry running a converter equipped combination. Realizing that the ADRL is full of talented drivers and that the XPS division features a bevy of talented teams, the Texas team decided to step outside the box. “The drivers and teams running pro stock cars have years of clutch and Lenco ratio experience on us and given the recent performance gains of converter equipped cars in other classes, we are willing to accept the challenge to compete at this level,” Lidiak said.Team “O” Motorsports plans on revealing a number of other announcements in the coming weeks before the opening race in Baytown.
