We believe in giving credit where credit is due, and much credit is due Chrysler for upping the ante in the horsepower wars. Never before have muscle cars been as powerful as they are today, and the SRT8 line of Chargers, Challengers, and other Mopar muscle set the standard. Both the Mustang and the Camaro had to bump their power up to over 400 ponies to hang with the SRT8 crowd.
Carrying on this tradition, Chrysler is plugging along with a bigger 6.4 liter Hemi.
Left Lane News is reporting that the 6.4 liter Hemi was recently spotted under the hood of a new Grand Cherokee.

The all-new Grand Cherokee is the first new product from the Chrysler lineup since the “new” Ram pickups. It is an important vehicle for Chrysler, this new Grand Cherokee, and it certainly is a sharp looking SUV. We have to admit, we’ve always had a soft spot for the SRT8 versions of the Grand Cherokee too. Something about a 400+ horsepower SUV tickles us the right way.
Spy photographers suggest that this SRT8 SUV could have anywhere between 450 and 500 horsepower. This is good news for the muscle car crowd, as the 6.4 liter Hemi is certainly destined for the Challenger and Charger. Couple that with an upcoming 8-speed automatic transmission, and you have a recipe for a badass new coupe and sedan. We wonder if there might an eight-speed manual transmission in the works too?
