Although Muscle cars are an American past time, it appears that the Brits seem to have an attraction as well. We found some footage from the wonderful BBC program, Top Gear. Most car features online praise vehicles without showing any flaws. Top Gear on the other hand isn’t affraid to point out how rediculous the window over the ZR1 supercharger is, how bogus the phony carbon fiber and ram air scoops on the Challenger are, and how unnecessary 500+ horsepower is for a 4-door luxury sedan is. The British group of car critics piles on the nonsense while still providing the key aspects of each car such as the Corvette’s power, the Cadillac’s ability to stick to the road around corners, and the Challenger’s ability to --Well, look like a muscle car.
The Top Gear team has a four-part youtube series recently posted where a three-person group test drives three modern American muscles, a Cadillac CTSV, a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, and a Dodge Challenger, across the western United States. Although it appears that the Britain’s view is a bit blurred with sports cars and luxury sedans, their video series proves to be quite interesting.
The United States may have warned them that any form of entertainment is not covered on their visas, but the crew risked the chance of facing Bruce Willis and a fleet of helicopters to provide a factual film in a very humorous way. Be sure to check out all of the videos documenting the road trip including everything from burn outs on "The World's Loneliest Highway," warnings by the Reno, Nevada sheriff's department, and new factory car Bonneville records.
