The modern interpretation of Dodge’s Charger has been, by all measures, a successful addition to Chrysler’s vehicle lineup. Sales have been strong, and the car has attracted the more youthful crowd that they had hoped for. But, make no bones about it, anyone with any interest in classic muscle whatsoever, really wanted a more retro, two-door Charger that more closely resembled its former glory (think Challenger). That it didn’t (and hasn’t with the new 2011 redesign) has led many custom designers to ask the age-old question “what if?” as they pull out their pens and paper and start sketching their idea of a truly retro Charger.

This custom, one-of-a-kind Charger SRT8 is one of the best-looking attempts at creating what should’ve been that we’ve seen to date. And best of all, it isn’t just a 3D computer design floating around the net for everyone to "ooh" and "ah" at, it’s the real deal. The car was designed by graphic artist Doug Schramm of Creating the Lie Studio, and is one of many vehicles that he has digitally manipulated and was later transferred from a photograph to an actual car.
Metalcrafters performed the incredible two-door conversion on this Charger, but they didn’t stop there. The entire body has clearly been reworked from front to back to give it the styling cues that more closely resemble a classic Charger. And the car, in fact, features tail lights pulled from a 1968 Charger and a front light assembly from the new Challenger. A matte copper House of Kolor paint was applied and tribute side stripes added to give this ride an even more retro look. With any luck, Chrysler is watching this incredibly talented hobbyist market with great interest.
