Wrench 7.5 rear axle build up ?

If it was possible to build up a 7.5 (like a g body mid 80's ) chevy rear axle ,what could you do to it and how much horsepower could it stand up against ? I have a 7.5 ladder barred (eaton posi 456 gear ) in a cruizer and not looking to change it ,but if it not possible to make it hold up then out it comes.Thank you for any an all input

If that is anything like the 7.5 that's in the F-body cars, it's probably not worth spending much money on. I'd upgrade to a bigger rear end if you want to put any good power or traction to it.

The housings flex way too much.. You would have to brace it so much that it would probably not fit when it is done.

i had one in a car. with a locker and 3.90 gear that lastest til the day it was pulled for the mini tub, trust me it was not babied. but they do have problems with flexing. a friend of mine has a 97 z28 with a few bolt ons, the car runs high 12s. he can't keep one in the car for very long.

I thinking 406 six inch rod sbc with manual valvebodied 350 with 4200 stall with the intended 7.5 w/456 axle .The rear axle has been together for many years on the street ,but now running 295 drag radials FUN>>>>>. Thanks for the input
