Here's my problem
Most of my mods for this year are done or will be done soon. My problem is I came across a complete new NX nitrous system that I bought and want to know can I and/or should put the car on the bottle. I've never run nitrous and have no idea if this will hurt me more than it helps me. The mods done to the the car are 75mm MAF, CAI, 65mmTB/EGR, Mac equal length shorties, O/R H pipe, Flowmaster catback, sub frame connectors, 3.73 gears, and rebuilt AOD w/shift kit. The motor other than what is listed is all stock. I plan rebuilding the motor next winter with all goodies but for now it will work. Any ideas or thoughts?

I've never run it so I was hoping for suggestions. From what I've read I was thinking 100 shot but this maybe to much.

Your car should handle a 100shot with no problem, if the kit has a lower setting than 100, start with that so you can get an idea of what the hit is like. Figure youve probably got about 230-245hp right now, so a 75 hit is like 1/3rd more horsepower, a 100 shot is close to 50% increase. Your motor doesnt use forged pistons, so dont go over 125. And follow the directions. Dont try to lean the system out to tweak more power out of it, you'll only be asking for trouble. You'll love the instant power, and the fact that you can shut it off is nice if someone ever borrows the car. Plus its easy to remove later on if you decide to switch to a different car. I ve had nitrous on 6 different vehicles and have never had any nitrous related damage.

Nitrous
You'll love it. Only problem I ever had was burning off the electrodes on some plugs (didn't take enough timing out).

This is my first EFI car so I'm not sure if I need to have it tuned to run the Nitrous. I not sure what Strtraces means when he says "Dont try to lean the system out to tweak more power out of it, you'll only be asking for trouble". I guess what I'm saying is I can set it up but need help to make sure I'm spraying the correct levels and such.

Your best bet is to jet the system low, run it, read the plugs and if all looks good, move up a jetting, do the same. I started at 35, then 75, then 100. The problem I had was that the car would fall on its ass when first sprayed (for a split second) and then would jump to life. On the dyno the car would go extremely rich at that point causing the surge. I had to get a tune to work that out and clean up the fuel curve.
Also, you may need to back out 5 degrees of timing for a 100 shot just to be safe.
Good Luck!

Thanks guys for the input. I'll start low and work my way up. Does any one have or know where I can get a spark plug chart. If I'm going to read the plugs I better learn what I'm looking for, right? Sorry for the possible stupid questions but new to the Nos and want to do it right. I want to run good at track day, ok so I don't want the slowest Mustang there.

First, is this a wet kit or dry kit. What I mean by dont lean it out, is, install it according to the directions. They will tell you which jets to use together(if its a wet kit), dont change these around. You should use a WOT activation switch(the nitrous only comes on at wide open throttle). If your timing is currently advanced to max without pinging, then you may need to reduce timing by 2* for each 50hp in spray, but test this by driving the car and listening for spark knock. Best way to control timing with nitrous is with a aftermarket(MSD or other) ignition box with timing retard function. This way you can have full timing while in normal driving, and when you switch on the nitrous the timing will automatically retard the amount you program it to, so you dont have to keep popping you hood to move your distributor.
Heres a spark plug guide.

Thanks Strtracer, Yes this is a wet kit. Now if I understand right I will need an aftermarket ignition box so the car will run like it does now when not using the Nos, but when I hit the juice it will retard my timing correct? Thats what I will do. Now with the WOT switch will that cause me to burn the tires off at the launch or do you arm the Nos after launch? Or can I wire in a relay and say wire into the horn button to activate the WOT switch. Thanks for all the info. I will get this figured out and ready to run.
