Default Modular Ford engines (love & hate)

Well I just finished tonight the head (p.i.) and Hitech motorsports cam swap. After about 40+ hours of porting (free), 4 hours to degree the cams (sohc) and a few evenings of wrenching she fired right up. This was a project I helped a friend with on his 96 GT stang. I love the sound of a cammed modular..... but F'in hated the tight quarters that I had to work in . I have done a few of these swaps now and they get easier every time. I cannot get over the fact that the factory drivers side cam gear was 6* off on the intake center line, nothing but a little grinding to fix that . There really is no point to this thread other than the fact that I feel better knowing that even with my back being jacked up I still can work some majic on a car. I can't wait to meet up with some of ya'll and have some fun.
I'm donating my ET streets for some burnouts at Diamond's first car show.
Four gauges, frame ties,a tune and a little suspension tweeking and we are ready some 12 sec. 1/4 passes from a pretty much stock little 4.6

I'm done blabbing...... lol

Please keep us posted with how it runs. I used to hate those motors when they came out, I love them now. They've come a long way. I'm going to get one for the street the end of this year or next.

They are fun, if you plan to do any mods or tear into it at all I have most of the "special" tools to make life easier. I did the job for free and ended up with $400 + in tools specific for mod motors. I like how quick they rev up with cams, I'll get so pics and maybe even try a video for you all.

You didn't miss much, me installing gauges, and Steve realizing he was missing 2 of the 4 throttle body bolts( lol ). What I thougth may be a MAF issue was more than likely a vacuum leak. I am going to drive it tom. evening so we will see what it does, he ran it up to about 4200 rpm today it was just starting to pull hard but we ran out of road..
