Default Gears

So I have a set of 3.73 that are going in next Sunday... and then today I was looking at this neat gear calculator spreadsheet someone made.... 4.10 aren't THAT bad RPM wise... can't go much faster than 60MPH on the way to work nowadays anyway which puts rpm at 2172 instead of 1976 with the 3.73.. which doesn't seem over the top to me... think the only complaints I've heard from people about 4.10 is the mileage... with 4.10 it would shift sometime around 37MPH instead of 40MPH with 3.73.. seems like a small difference to me..

What do you all think? I want better acceleration without breaking the motor and don't care about gas mileage... 4.10 safe?

Higher revs= more wear on drivetrain/engine parts....

True.. but I wonder if maybe the difference in RPM is small enough that it might be worth it for the extra SOTP feel of the car...

Then you're gonna need some sticky tires.. Not exactly daily driver material. Well, not as much as you drive at least

Haha, well, on a more serious note, I think gears are like one of those things... if you get the "safer" choice, you'll always wonder what it'd have been like if you'd had the balls to try the more agressive ones...

Well, I think I just read every thread on mustangforums.com about gears... no one seemed to have anything negative to say about 4.10s with autos except gas mileage or possibly at high speeds... since I enjoy 0-70 alot more than 70-140 I think my choice is made.

it's a stick and a gear biggie that that will actually hurt you, more than help due to the gearing in the tranny.
