I had great sucess with the Atkins diet.. I'm about ready to go back on again soon.
No carbs, no sugar. It works.

Ready to go back on it?? Did you crash and gain the weight back. Sorry, but I hate those stupid gimick(sp?) diets. 90% fall off and crash hard and gain more weight back then they originally had. No carbs, that is so unhealthy its retarded to even think that is good for your body.
Truth is, you need to change your lifestyle if you want the weight loss to last. Ive bought some really good books and the best by far is the "Eat Clean Diet book" You can get it at Krogers. It will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about what to eat and when.

I went from 315 to 250 in 4 months. That was 4 years ago. I'm currently at 270 and can lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks if i watch what i eat. I've changed my eating habits a lot though since i was on the diet last.
Its very rare that i eat fries or potatoes. I'm no health freak so say what you will, i'm just stating what works for me.

I couldn't agree more with everything Ryan is saying. "Diets," as most know them, blow and aren't worth a damn. You need to change your lifestyle to change your body. Proteins need to go up, carbs, salt, sugar, and fat need to go down. Get off your ass and do some cardio. Even if you lift light weights it still makes your cardio and diet that much more effective. But "no carbs" will make you hate life and it will deprive your body of what it needs to fucntion correctly. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Dr. Atkins die at only 73 years old? Shouldn't he have lived longer if he have a great diet and lifestyle?

Ive lost almost 50lbs in the last year by eating twice as much, and eating lots of carbs and protiens.
Bubba, I wasnt bashing you one bit. I didnt mean to come off like I was. Infact you are ONE of FEW that has probably kept weight off after that diet.

I lost 105 pounds total. I started in March. It takes hard work, a lifestyle change, and self control. Exercise is a must and you must be active.
My highest weight was 285, my lowest has been in the 170's. I am currently in the maintence phase, and instead of grabbing carbs, you grab good carbs like fruit vegetables ect.
Nothing is easy, and nothing is a magical deit. If you want to loose it takes hard work and discipline.

Exercise is a huge plus but alot of people are to lazy, busy, etc. to get it done.
I lost 20# in 3-4 mos just by cutting out fast food and especially fried food completely. I never drank pop but cut that shit out too if you do, or drink diet. I also eat assloads of chicken, and fish when I can (the wife hates fish).
Eat fruits and veggies instead of chips and bullshit, and drink a ton of water.
I think the biggest thing is to eat lots of small meals instead of a couple of huge meals a day to keep the metabolism zinging.
Al posted a great campfire/metabolism analogy somewhere but I'm too lazy to go find it.
The biggest thing is just discipline.
I found that once the weight started coming off, I had way more energy, and only then did I start exercising and lifting again.
Good luck!!!
