This 1967 Corvette L88 Roadster - one of only 20 produced and the earliest RPO-ordered L88 known to exist - was owned and raced by Tony DeLorenzo Jr. The son of General Motors VP of public relations Anthony G. DeLorenzo, DeLorenzo drove the car to victory in its first race at Wilmont Hills, WI. He would later finish second in the 1967 Daytona Beach SCCA runoffs.

After winning the 1982 Canadian Road Race Championship, the L88 was retired from racing, restored and awarded Bloomington Gold and Top Flight NCRS honors. The car will be sold at Mecum's Monterey Auction, along with a copy of the original window sticker and a fully-documented owner history.
Mecum's Monterey Auction takes place on August 13-14, 2010. Now in its second year, the auction has been expanded to two days, as more than 400 vehicles will cross the block. Open to the general public, the cars will be displayed on the beautiful Del Monte Golf Course.
Befitting the venue, don't think that you'll pick up this significant 1967 L88 Roadster for chump change. The car was on the block at RM Auction’s Arizona Biltmore auction in 2007. Reportedly, bidding for the roadster reached a high of $1,550,000, but did not meet the reserve bid.
