Default Machine shops (block Work)

long story short...matt took his car to lidio today..he tuned it and got it to run alot better but also said that is motor is worn out and tired..SOOO me and him are going to be doing a stock rebuild on it for now.

probably going to go with the sealed power hyperutectic kit. $269 includes all bearings, gaskits, new pistions(hyperutectic) and oil pump.. thinking about maybe going .030 over just to make sure the block is cleaned up nicely and also so we dont have to ridge ream it.

what are your guys favorite shops that are reasonably priced. the only shop i have personally ever delt with is Booth Arons and they are a bit expensive but do really good work.

what do you guys recommend doing? Remeber BUDGET!! later on he's going to go completely through his motor including forged internals, heads, intake, cam. He just wants the car to run decent for now instead of getting beat by my V6 Grand Am

Sorry for the Novel
Thanks for the help!

At least put forged pistons in it. I take it we're talking 5.0. What year. Tear it apart first, it might just need rings and bearings. I can set you up with a shop that can take care of you. No torque plates, but you're going budget. I us this guy for every thing except full out race motors, and thats only because he doesnt have the torque plates. Did my buddys 5.0 a couple of years ago, and it was only $300 for hot tank, .010 crank and bearings, new cam bearings, freeze plugs, rings, oil pump and gasket set. Over bore is only $10 a hole plus pistons. Can also rebuild rods with arp hardware if you want. A stocker 5.0 rebuild will hold a lot of power as long as you use the forged pistons. I blew the snot out of my old stocker(175hp) and never damaged anything, infact thats the motor I did for my buddy.

PM me if this sounds good.

Ditto! And for a stock rebuild, I wouldn't bore out the cylinders any more than he has to. If he measures his bores and checks the amount of taper, I think he'll find he could most likely get away with over boring block only .010 or .020. This leaves plenty of room for any further rebuilds necessary or planned in the future.

yeah we dont plan on any boring or grinding on anything. going to polish the crank and grind it only if its neccesary. the block is just getting ridge reamed and re honed...should cost to much money at all really..

me and greg are trying to get him to do heads, cam, intake forged internals...the works but he's not going for it.. its so much fun spending other people's money...
