Idel problem
Ok heres the deal. The damn thing will not idel it's searching from 1,500 to 500. I unpluged the ICS and it stalled. I set the idel with the ICS unpluged and still searching and then would level off. I pluged the ICS back in and started it back up and still searched but leveled off, but as soon as you rev. it up back to searching. I just did a tune up on the car plugs, wires, cap&rotor, fuel filter and PVC valve. This all started when I got rid of the smog pump and cross tube, but it was very little only 900 to 1,200 for a couple seconds but after the tune up holy shit it sucks. Any thoughts.
Sorry I should tell you it's a 302 EFI car.

Thats what I was thinking. I unpluged the IAC and it was still happening, so I would say that the IAC is not the problem, correct? Still checking for a vac leak and will check the TPS setting tonight. How can I tell if the TPS is bad?

Not sure exactly on those, it should be a certain # of volts at idle etc.. I'd wait for Raj or one of the other mustang guru's to chime in

If you have starting fluild laying around... Crank up the car and spray a lite coating around the vac lines and see if the motor revs up high... Then you know you have a vac problem...

ASAP, just say the word cause "I have grill will travel".
Ok heres the update. Last night I turned off the battery switch to reset the computer. I got home at 5pm today and turned it back on and started the car. The damn thing idels perfect, reved it up and starts the same sh!t. So I tried the starting fluid trick and TB fluid also with no luck engine never changed. So will check the TPS setting and then drink some beer and think about it.
Reiko, if I need a TPS and /or a IAC can you help me?

Pull the IAC and see if it has carbon build up, wire brush it see if it works. I don't think unplugging will make a difference as to if it is good or bad.

Not saying it's not a vacuum leak but I have check it twice. I'm thinking it's the IAC.
Any more ideas anyone?

Unplug the IAC again, remove it and plug the hole. If you plug the hole for it and it still happens it's not the problem. I "think" even with it unplugged if the depth of the IAC isn't correct it could still cause a problem.
I'm also leaning towards the vacuum leak if the IAC checks out.
