Indiana man had car parked in mother's driveway; asks for public's help

MADISON HEIGHTS -- Jay Mielke's pride and joy is gone, snatched from the driveway like a baby from its crib.
Mielke, 32, of Indianapolis, Ind., is not easily letting go of his silver 1972 Camaro, a cherry ride with a tweaked exhaust and an engine he customized himself.
The car was discovered missing this weekend in Madison Heights and neighbors reported hearing nothing out of the ordinary except barking dogs.
With two-and-a-half-inch pipes and a Flowmaster exhaust system, the Camaro roars -- so police believe it was either pushed down the street or loaded onto a trailer.
"It's loud," Mielke said. "Someone would have heard it." Mielke spent Monday going to local police stations with fliers featuring photos and descriptions of his stolen car, and he planned to spend the evening with pre-cruisers on Woodward Avenue passing out fliers to his most sympathetic audience.
