Default Garage fire destroys 48 Ford

Sad for sure, at least nobody was hurt - remember to be sure your rides are properly insured

THE SAGINAW NEWS
Freeland builder Mark Reisinger courted his wife during the mid-1960s in a classic Ford coupe.
"I was 15 when I bought that car," he said of the 1948 two-door vehicle.
"I also had a 1982 Z-28 Camaro."

Reisinger, 59, adored those cars, but a Saturday afternoon blaze destroyed his cherished possessions as fire crews from Tittabawassee, Kochville and Thomas townships fought in vain to save them inside his garage.
"It's just one of those things," said Reisinger, whose home at 9785 Carter escaped harm, but other items near the garage, including a pair of hauling trailers did not.
"The damage is probably about $60,000."
Reisinger said every few weeks or so, he cranks up the Camaro, so it's not idle through the winter. He suspects a mice nest in the car ignited the fire.
"I've seen them on the engine block before," he said. "By the time I saw the fire it was too late. The response time by the fire departments was great. Everybody got here in good time, but it wasn't anything they could do."
Tittabawassee Fire Chief Philip J. Shaver said the incident could have took a more tragic turn because Reisinger's home and barn are nearby.
"Fortunately, the wind was blowing (the fire) the other way," he said. "It is sad, but it could have been worse."
Even so, the loss still hurts as Reisinger was in the midst of restoring the Ford coupe.
"I didn't plan to take it to shows. It was personal, you know?," he said. "They were insured, but I don't know what I'll do about the Camaro. But I'll probably try and find another '48 Ford."

that sucks, but 2 cars, 2 trailers and a garage destroyed and he only estimates the damage at $60,000? Seems a little low to me.
