New best!
Yesterday I did my 1st 10 plate, 6 rep set on squats. Wore a belt, had a spot (ended up not needed him) but wore no knee wraps.
Squats went as such yesterday...
Bar (45lbs) x 10 reps (no belt, no spot, no knee wraps)
2 Plates (135lbs) x 10 reps (no belt, no spot, no knee wraps)
4 Plates (225lbs) x 10 reps (no belt, no spot, no knee wraps)
6 Plates (315lbs) x 10 reps (no belt, no spot, no knee wraps)
8 Plates (405lbs) x 10 reps (no belt, no spot, no knee wraps)
8 Plates + 2 25lb plates (455lbs) x 8 reps (with belt, no spot, no knee wraps)
10 Plates (495lbs) x 6 reps (with belt, with spot, no knee wraps)
Then I was off to leg extensions.
Felt good.

I don't have a training partner and I hate fucking up other's workouts and momentum if I don't have to.

Not at all. I could blow out a 540lbs x 1 with ease. Next week I am going for 545lbs x 5. We'll see.

Al, it's not like your bench is it? Where you only go down half way or whatever?

Bringing the bar 2-3 inches from your chest IS a full press, FYI. There's no need to bounce the weight off of your chest like it's a trampoline. When I squat I go to at least 90 degrees, no sense in going any further than that.
But hey, any time you're on this side of town and willing to clang some plates with me to show me how to correctly move the weight on moving, let me know. I'd love a few pointers.

maybe those lifting competitions are doing it wrong when they pause at the bottom of their chest, you dont bounce the weight off your chest either only pussys do and thats how u hurt yourself aswell
i go down, touch chest, back up
imo your not getting a complete full range of motion 3in out, idk if you do dumbell presses either but you can go alot farther down but u should already know that
your alot older then me so in 7 years i cant imagine where ill be

In powerlifting you have to touch your chest and wait for the judge to tell you to push it up. I think they smacked some paddles together to signal you to push. At least that's how it was when I did it in high school. Although, that was almost 20 years ago.

I stopped doing flat bench and started doing dumbbells a couple weeks because it's almost impossible for me to bring a barbell to my chest with anything over 250lbs without seriously injuring my shoulders. Right shoulder has been dislocated twice, and my left rotator cuff is fucked up. Dumbells have been better for me in the short time I have been doing them.

Ever see a lift competition where they use 2x4s stacked 2-3 high? YouTube some powerlifting vids and you'll find more than a few. Let me gues...many of you lock out your arms at the top for the quick break, right? I don't, nor are you supposed to.
But hey, if ANY of you would like to come show me how to train, with the weight I train with, have at it. I'd love to see you gentlemen execute what you preach. I'll gladly pay for your daily visit to my gym.

No. I'm not sure I even know what you're talking about.
