This site has a list of current and old dragstrips in Michigan. It's cool to read about the how it was baack in the day. Has lots of cool old pics. Check it out:

It also has stuff on drive-ins too. Pretty cool to see what it was like back in the day.

that site is pretty damn cool!! it was a completey different world back then..seemed alot more laid back..

I walked Motorcity dragway about 8 years ago. Looks just like the pictures. Our club looked into contacting the owner of th track to see what it would take to get it to re-open. Long sotry short aint going to happen due to husing near by

When I lived at 16 & Gratiot my old neighbor mentioned him and some guys who had the financial backing tried to get it to reopen. They even had some type of wall to curb the sound. Said it was shot down because of some b.s. from some local farmers.

They don't want us racing on the street, but they also don't want to give us a place close-by to race legally.

Detroit voted down a racetrack that would have gone up near the fairgrounds I believe. I guess that's too much noise-it'll drown out the gunfire. Hate that damn city!

Yeah they wanted to put it in the Fairgrounds, but the residents wouldn't allow it.

People always want it both way-we don't want street racing but we don't want a track either. I guess they think the problem will just go away by itself.
