Back from the dead.
Not many people here will remember me but I used to be around quite a bit. Finally got some motivation to get the car going again after sitting for almsot 3 years (88 Camaro with a 400sbc & TH350 trans). Anyways does anyone know of a decent machine shop in the Lake Orion area? I need to have some pistons pressed onto the rods and possibly have my crank polished. Any info would be great!

Welcome back. Where are you in Lake Orion? The guy I use is Dave H. from Engine Craft. His shop used to be in Waterford, now it's off of M15, north of Oakwood. He does good work, reasonable prices. He did the most recent motor in both my cars. I will PM you his number.

I live near Clarkston rd between Joslyn and M24. Just moved out here a little over a year ago from warren so don't know many places yet.
Well I took the engine apart a little more this evening and took a closer look at the crank and I think I'm going to have to have it turned rather than polished. It's not that bad but there are a few grooves on the mains that I don't feel real comfortable with. I will be calling Engine Craft monday and see what they have to say about prices and what my best option would be. Thanks for the help.

Yeah it has definitely been a long ass time since I posted here. How you been? I'm sure I will take the car to the track a few times but that's not what I'm building it for. The car hasn't been to the track since I took it to Ubly a few years ago and cracked a piston. I just want a plesant street car that's fairly quick. I'll be happy with low 12's but hoping for high 11's.
Hows your Mustang doing?

Sounds like a good street car. Car's fine. Broke the trans last year at Ubly so I'm picking up another trans. Also finally painting the car. Car ran pretty good this year (high tens on motor).
