SHOTyme I need rep points!
Default need some advice...

I need some advice. As most of you know i used to work at a dealership then got fired for my driving record. Well today my uncle called me who runs the bodyshop at the dealership and said that they want to hire me back b/c they fired one of there techs and one quit so there down to one. They also changed the insurance policy were points and driving records don't count for the tech's since we don't drive the cars off the lot. So they want to hire me back for money money then i was making before. But here's were i need advice. I'm working for my uncle 3 days a week under the table. I don't wanna make a family fight but i'm still technically Unemployeed according to the government. Were as witht he dealership i'll get a w2, benefits, and 401k. The dealership is a much better for me since i worked there for over 2 years and i can get benefits. So i don't want hurt my uncle but i need to do what's best for me....what do u guys think??

i would definatly go for the 5 days a week job getting paid more and benifits. u never know when ur going to need them. and since ur not getting finacial aid for college the no tax thing doesnt really matter. either way. its up to you. ur uncle should understand the situation.

Depends. Is the dealership where you really want to work? would u rather have a job else where? if so then i would stay with the uncle until you have a job that u really want. Unless its strictly a money issue than i would go for the dealership. You have to look at long term and whats best for YOU. Your uncle should understand.

I'd go for the dealership job, but have a talk with your uncle that you're currently working with and tell him this is what you need to do. I'm sure he'll understand.

Don't pass up an opportunity for a good job while the job market is down.

true but i got a seatbeat ticket that did me in last time. They got rid of me cause of that. My uncle as works for the dealership and is like 3 or 4th in command there and he said i have no worries about any of that shit. They are asking me back not the other way around so they know the situation. Plus in april 4 of my 6 points come off my record So if i go back things are supposed to be ok and i should have no worries.

If you decide to go back to the dealership, sit down with your uncle and ask him how much time he would need to get another employee, that you didn't want to leave him hunging. Also thank him for giving you the work when you needed it, and you might be able to even help him find your replacement. Tell him ya love himand that he's a good uncle but you need the benefits and it would help having a little more cash. By doing this you show respect for him and your family. Believe me you will feel good about the way you handled it and so will he.

delivering meat. He runs his own business so i was cheap help. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm taking the job at the dealership becasue it's much better for me in the long run. Me, my mom and aunt are going to talk to my aunt and uncle and explain to them the situation and things will be ok. And as for points i had 6 but 4 were illegal lights and 4 of them drop in april/may. Six was the old insurance companies policy, then they switched to a cheaper company that required 4 and i was semi-grandfathered in but at a higher rate and then they eventuall let me go.
