Default ADRL Holding Open House at UTI Dallas/Ft. Worth On Oct. 20

IRVING, TX (October 18, 2010) - Universal Technical Institute (UTI) will host an American Drag Racing League (ADRL) open house at its Dallas/Fort Worth campus from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20.The event is free and open to the public and will feature ADRL vehicles and drivers, as well as other special guests in anticipation of the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VI, which takes place Oct. 22-23 at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX.The open house will also include ADRL ticket giveaways, UTI prize giveaways, campus tours and lunch.ADRL drivers scheduled to appear include Pro Extreme competitors Frankie Taylor, Terry Legget and Jason Hamstra, Extreme Pro Stock driver Cale Aronson. Also scheduled to appear are Mike Hojnacki and his “Interceptor” jet funny car, ADRL Extreme 10.5 team owner Randy Whitman, Tim McAmis of Tim McAmis Race Cars and the Bigfoot Monster Truck. “We’re excited about the ADRL coming out to show students what future jobs are available in the motorsports industry and what technical things are involved in getting ready for a race,” UTI Supervisor of Admissions Support Leah Miranda said.“Even for the staff and instructors, most of them drag race in a non-professional capacity. They’re excited to see the drivers, so it will be great for the students and staff. It’s a win-win for everyone. We’re extremely excited for the entire day.”Along with the standout ADRL drivers, their race teams and trailers will also be on hand, giving current, future and prospective students the opportunity to learn more about what is involved in getting an ADRL car ready to race.More than 400 high school students are expected to attend the open house, along with 300 current UTI students and another 200 potential students, meaning nearly 1,000 attendees will be on hand at the event at UTI’s new Dallas/Fort Worth campus, which is located at 5151 Regent Boulevard in Irving, TX.“We’re very thrilled about this,” Miranda said. “This will be our first major open house for current students and future students. It’s a great time to reach out to high-school students, too. “We want to show them the importance of post-secondary education, the prospects of jobs they could have and the value of technical training for the motorsports world.”UTI’s Dallas/Ft. Worth campus is the first to roll out UTI’s new blended learning curriculum, combining hands-on lab time with online coursework, which offers more convenience and training flexibility for students. With this new curriculum, students can maximize their time in the classroom and lab and have the option of attending morning, afternoon or evening classes.
