almost had a fire...
so im sitting here at the computer and the power strip that everything is plugged into starts making a sizzling noise..very faint but definatly noticeable..so i get ready to un plug it and the thing starts smoking and sparks are shooting out from it....talk about something you dont expect to happen..

If it is a plastic power strip, that is a common occurence, ive switched to the metal ones because of that kind of problem. I would have grab the nearest fire extiguisher and went nuts, then claimed i saved the day lol

So much for having something "UL" listed.

My dad grew up on a farm and he told me years ago that he used to pee on the electric fence, and it felt reaaalllly good. For some reason, I didn't believe him.

Yea, unfortunately, a manufacturer only has to test their product short term to get a "UL" listing, samething with SFI, there are some off shore manufacteres that get a SFI rating for their Balancers, they work fine for about 6-8 months, then self destruct, taking the front of the motor and the main bearing withit.

I am never ever peeing on anything that has the remote chance of carrying electricity, ever again.

I don't remember too much, it was a long time ago and I was drunk. I just remember peeing on some phone company equipment outside a friend's house, and something must have been broken there cause I got a nice jolt that made me sit down on my ass pretty hard, and for a couple days after it felt funny while peeing. I never saw a doctor about it or anything though.
