Psyco Diver 69 I need rep points!
Default Got my new hood!!

I finally got my new hood today, its a repoduction W-25 Oldmobile hood of course

I'm sending out the money today for lighter hood springs so the hood doesn't buckle any and I'm probably going to buy normal hood pins because the factory style push down clips are a little expensive, but I'm going to a swap meet this week end so I'm going to see what I can find.

In other news I scored a fairly fresh Olds 350 off of a friend I should have it this weekend and will probably have it swapped into my car the weekend after. This will give me a chance to drive my car around while getting the motor rebuilt. I plan to get her painted when my tax refund check gets in. I'm just glad that I'll have something fairly quick and fun to drive again.

If you can swing it, get the Olds push pins for the hood. They just look so much better. What engine are you using? 455?

Man, I love that hood, best lookin factory ram air set up ever

The olds twist lock assemblys are available repro from companies like year one, I take it this is the all fiberglass hood, not the combo fiberglass/steel. Can you tell me what the shipping weight was, Im considering replacing my factory W-25 with the one you have, if its lighter.

Caution with this hood, if its the all fiberglass model, it doesnt retain the factory saftey(secondary) latch, so make sure your hood pins are secure.
I lost a race weight(20lbs) W-25 years ago, man did it fly, but it also screwed up the paintjob on the car. I may have pooped myself that day.

it weighed 50lbs with the wooden frame, The twist pins cost like 150-175, thats a lot of money right now, I'll get it later though, but I'm heading up to a swap meet this weekend, I'll see what I can spot up there

50lbs with the shipping crate, woo hoo, that means I can drop over 100lbs off the front of my car just by swapping out the factory hood for the aftermarket. Thanks for the info, and good luck at the swap meet.
