Ditto, you've got to get your protein in and only take in clean carbs. (brown rice, sweet potato, and oats are three of my popular carb sources.)

We as humans do things for pleasure. We eat for pleasure, we drink for pleasure. Enjoy the food you eat and that will make it much easier to tolerate.

Here is a shopping list I use when I go to the grocery store, more of a guidline really. Also Monday-Saturday I use the rule that I only eat food prepared at home. This eliminates a lot of "outside" sources and trigger foods that will throw you off track.

Protein:
Lean Steak
Ground Beef
Chicken Breast
Ground Chicken
Turkey
Ground Turkey
White Fish
Shell Fish
Salmon/Shark/Swordfish
Canned Tuna
Canned Salmon
Canned Chicken
Eggs
Cottage Cheese
Sugar Free Low Carb Protein Powder (Whey)
Buffalo
Venison
Tofu
Soy
Pork Loin

Fat:
Fish Oil
Cream for Coffee
Flax Seed Oil
Egg Yolks
Mayonnaise
Olive Oil
Safflower Oil
Walnut Oil
Nuts
Natural Sugar Free Nut Butters (PB, Almond Butter, Cashew Butter etc)
Oil Based Dressings
Real Butter (no spray, no margarine)

Carbs:
Sweet Potatoes
Yams
Long Grain Brown Rice
Old Fashioned Oats
Scottish Oats
Fresh or Frozen (w/o syrup) berries
Fruit
Whole Grain Bread
Fiber One
All Bran w/ Extra Fiber
Uncle Sam Cereal
Whole Wheat Pasta
Lentils
Legumes
New Potatoes
Red Potatoes
Pumpkin
Squash
Turnip

Vegetables:
Celery
Peppers (any color)
Mushrooms
String Beans
Zucchini
Eggplant
Squash
Romaine Lettuce
Iceberg Lettuce
Spinach
Asparagus
Avocado
Broccoli
Brussell Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Cucumbers
Onion

Snacks & Beverages:
Sugar Free Jello

Artificial Sweeteners

I've been eating well, and working out, the last 3 days in a row, and I'm off to the gym now! No longer a bum.

What does that consist of?

If it helps any here are a few things I do to make eating properly a little bit easier…

I keep the fridge well stocked with eggs, yogurt, and apples, and some frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts in the freezer.

Consuming a balanced breakfast in the morning, even if you aren't hungry, is essential as it will not only kick-start your metabolism, but, it will also moderate your appetite come lunch time.

Egg whites are a great breakfast staple. They are inexpensive and quick to prepare. They are delicious poached, scrambled, or even served hard boiled.

You can procure a microwaveable egg poacher from Bed Bath & Beyond for around $5.00. This is a helpful cooking implement for preparing home made Egg McMuffins (the healthy way).

It takes just over one minute to poach three egg whites in the microwave. Add in another two minutes to toast a wheat McMuffin and a final ten seconds to microwave the assembled sandwich (poached egg whites, sliced ham, and a slice of cheese) and you have yourself a delicious and nutritious breakfast.

I also keep some green pepper sliced up and in a covered bowl in the fridge. Great for adding to a pre-made salad or egg white omelet.

The important thing to remember is that you aren't on a diet .. You selected (wisely) to live a more healthy lifestyle. And much of that includes eating properly, exercising, and moderating your alcohol consumption.

Weight loss is the result of eating properly and exercise.

I can appreciate that you want the weight gone ASAP and are willing to go hungry for a while for that to happen, but that is really just a recipe for "crash and burn".

Spend some time establishing a system that makes it easy for you to eat correctly. That is the most important thing you can do .. far more important than exercise. You need to integrate that into your routine. If that means grilling up a tub of chicken breasts on Sunday night and taking one a day to work along with some salad then fine. There are tons of different things that can help and to some degree what works for me may not work for you, or vise versa.

At any rate, I'm vastly over tired and am probably ramblings at this point - so in closing I'd like to congratulate you on your commitment to proper diet and regular exercise. If there is anything I can do to encourage you to persevere or assist you in this endeavor you needn't but ask.

Regards,

Mark

I knew it. The only thing that kept me from saying it was you was your avatar. My initial post (before I asked if you posted on MM) was simply "mdhmi?"

But I changed it to what you currently see, again because of your avatar.
