Well I guess my car won't be seeing the strip too much then. I really don't want to have to put a cage in a 13 second car lol.

Dreaming is great, isn't it. Doesn't cost a dime. However, kids do

Like a few people said a cage stregthens the car and allows you to add a 5 point harness. I didn't add a cage till I went 11:50's and Lapeer told me don't come back without a cage and firejacket.

A Cage helps your chassie a ton!
On a buddies Mustang he picked up .20 after it was added with no ther changes even with the added weight!
Why you ask?? Well Power is now going to the wheels and being sucked up by the body twising up!
I have plans for one and if your fast enough for it I think you should just buck up and put one in
But its your A$$ am I right??

Thats what I thought at first.............
Not that i would put one in my vette (im way to slow) but i was in Phil's TT vette and that has a cage in his and it doesnt feel anydiff then sitting in mine.. but the had removeable bars by the doors and they were out at the time. It was sweet and if I was going as fast as him I would hop on his cage setup..

I think the NHRA rule book stipulations are pretty accurate as to when a roll bar/cage is necessary. They have seen/witnessed many crashes, and have thoroughly examined these wreckages throughout the years and have a pretty good idea what is necessary based on this. The NHRA and many other racing sanctioning bodies work closely with the SFI to develop these safety standards. I still think the 2 year safety harness renewal thing is though.

I agree. They do know what they're talking about (usually). Shit, that reminds me my harness is SO out of date! I guess I'll have to replace it when the car is done.

Thanks I like it too.
The bottom line for me was quite simple in that I was tired of 1 or 2 passes and getting tossed. I personally have no issue trapping 140mph in the car with no cage, but thats my personal choice. What wasnt was getting tossed so I decided that it was important enough to me to get more track time to put in the hardware. Its worth a few extra $$$ to do it right and have it taylored to your wants/needs. Things like corckscrewing the rear riser bar to make sure the seat goes back all the way and the clevised removable door bars etc are worth it over a run of the mill slammed in cage.
Phil
