YOUNG EXEC I need rep points!
Default engine swap

OK I have a 95 Chevy 1500 truck with a blown v6 and I bought a motor from a 97 Chevy 1500 I have the wiring harness and pcm my problem is I don't know where to start the on the install Ive gone as far as to pull the blown one out sit it side the new one and nothing is the same I can install the new motor but the harness and pcm I have no clue.Any help would be appreciated

What do you mean by "nothing is the same" ?

Is it a V6 also? If so, I would try to move stuff over from the old engine so that you can use the existing harness and PCM. That would be the easiest way. In other words, move the intake manifold and sensors from the old engine to the new one, so that you can use the existing harness and PCM.

96+ are vortec heads.
are they both l35's?

Default differences .

The motors may be different by heads up - meaning your 95 block has different heads and intake manifold to the newer motor .I dealt with the astro van some and the "w" heads have a totally different top end .you should be able to make something happen ,but if it is TBI injection going to SFI injection .You may have to do a heads and intake swap then reinstall .Good luck
