We're going to say it and we're sure to aggravate some people, but Corvettes are not muscle cars, they are sports cars. In fact, Corvette enthusiasts should take great pride in that Corvettes are "America's Sports Car." We're not exactly sure how the controversy first surfaced, but in the face of Ford's GT40 (and later GT), Blue Oval-powered, Italian-built DeTomaso Pantera and Dodge's Viper RT/10, GTS and SRT10s, the Corvette remains the king of the hill, and that's something to be proud of. With a history steeped in ever-increasing performance (we'll forgive the 1970's and 80's) and gorgeous styling, the second generation Chevrolet Corvette is still considered to be some of the prettiest cars ever to come out of Detroit.

Even after 47 years, the "mid-year" 'Vettes are the objects of automotive lust, even by those who aren't necessarily "car guys." Now in a world of near-limitless variety, we've seen a broad spectrum of modified mid-60's Corvettes. We stumbled across this '65 on eBay that bridges quite a few chasms of style, horsepower and tradition. Obviously the product of an enthusiast with plenty of dough to spend, this resto-mod is something of an amalgam.



Powered by a twin-turbo Nelson Racing 350 small block with fuel injection and an intercooler, this inky black 'Vette erupts with 700hp. But that's not all! Custom built by Brent Jackson Customs, it touts Vintage Air, a Viper Tremec 6-speed, a Paul Newman Car Creations C-4 chassis, Intro wheels with Michelin Pilot Sports 345x19 rubber out back and 245x18 up front. Wilwood 14-inch rotors are at all four corners while the interior is rife with custom black leather interior stitchwork, and a ridiculous 3000 watt Kicker/Kenwood DVD/Sat/Nav system. Winner of the Good Guys Meguiar's Magnificent Masterpiece award it has less than 200 miles on build.
