Psyco Diver 69 I need rep points!
Default I finally started and moved my 442

I finally started and moved the 442 after it sitting since december. What surprised me is that she hard oil pressure again, around 45-50lbs not what it nearly what it was for a frozen cold motor. I'm guessing I didn't do nearly as much damage as I did, so I'm going to pull the motor and flip it and check the main and rod bearings, if their good I'm going to remove the heads and check the cylinder walls and if their still good, I'll just replace the cam bearings (which I have already) and reuse the cam if I can, if not the Paw 214/224 cam and lifter set only cost 110 bucks with shipping. I might look into getting Comp cams magnum rocker arm set too. If not I'll pick up my friends engine and swap it in, but if I don't need to I'll swap that motor into my 85 Cutlass.

If everything does turn out good (yeah right!) I will need a higher stall torque converter, somewhere in the 2400-2500 stall range and price is an issue

I narrowed my converter search down to 2, remember this is for a small block Olds. I was going through Jegs and I saw 2 torque converters, the first is a jegs converter pt# 555-60400 which stalls at 2300-2700 and has a 10.75" bolt circle, will this work for me OR a TCI Sizzler pt# 890-241538 thats suppose to stall 300-400rpm over stock my stock convert stalled at 2000-2200 rpm so will this mean it will stall 2300-2600rpm? And that has a small bolt pattern, which one will work for me better

What gear ratio do you have? sounds like both those converters are nearly identical, either should do. Another choice is to look in your yellow pages for a local trans parts supplier, they will offer rebuilt converters in that stall range, and will cost less than the Jegs or TCI unit. The quailty is just as good.

Cam bearings require a special tool to install, you will probably have to take the engine/block in somewhere to have them installed. Check you cam and lifters for any uneven wear or scaring.

Try Roseville Transmission Parts in Roseville or D&E in Madison Heights.
Maybe try out a DAACO hi stall... I've used them in a few of my cars and they are great, even with a little spray

He's not local, but yes, a DAACO is what you will probably find at a parts supplier. And D&E is a great place for Trans parts, but they are in Hazel Park, on 10 mile.

I'm suppose to be running 3.73 gears. I can rent the cam bearing tool from a local car parts place
