It may not be the fastest, but fot the little $ it cost for 500 hp it's very reasonable as long as you don't go to a Fucking rip off dealer. The engineers at Ford left so much on the table. Lt's alone are worth 60rwhp alone. Chuck that POS Eaton and slap a KB or some Turbos and you're talkin some serious power. A modded Shelby will crush a 7l Z06 and for a lot less $ than the Vette. Yeah I know mod the z06 blah, blah, blah, blah Now you're talking a 6 figure Chebby.
How much are you guys jacking the price of the Shelbys up at Varsity? I told a salesman at Milne that if they wouldn't give me A plan, I wouldn't pay a dime over sticker. He chuckled, and I walked to my car and drove away.
Personally I don't feel safe at all in the Vette. Like I said before, it feels like a cardboard coffin on wheels.

There are true statements in what you say about cost/performance for some people, but the Z06 has been the best value for the overall package for some time now.
Regarding comparing anything modded to anything stock, that is a moot discussion
Coffin on wheels? I've spent quite some time in a C5 convertible and I never once felt vulnerable or unsafe

I saw a Super Snake traveling in the opposite direction as me down I-275 when I was on my way to Dom's last night.

Depends on who you ask. You can mod a Mustang GT for a lot less than the cost of a Ls2 Vette and run circles around the Vette. The S197 chassis doesn't need much to make it handle like the Vette. Fuck that IRS you don't need it. Anyone who has been in a S197 will tell you that. If they do, then they don't need to be driving a Mustang on our wonderful Michigan roads. Much better ride quality than the prior Ponys the S197 is.
if it's a moot discusion, then the $ difference between the 7l z06 and the Shelby isn't in the same classification therefore it's null and void.
The Super Snakes however.....
Maybe it's because I wasn't behind the wheel when I rode in the Vette
After seeing the interior of my car after I was done detailing it this evening getting ready for Woodward- my neighbor said he's wants me to detail his Vette. I said fine, but I get the Vette for a WHOLE Day after it's clean.

I said it was moot because you can mod most cars to run circles around another. This is an age-old debate and I guess it depends on the person who wants the car and what they want it for.
Honestly, I'm good with all of them - it comes down to personal preference

For $70k, Z06 for sure! And I look in all the dealer ads, the BASE 2007 Shelby GT500 (MSRP $41,500 +/- $1k) is listed for $69,995 on sale for $59,995, no joke!!! Screw that, buy a Z06, or if you have to have a new 'Stang, get a Steeda, Saleen, or Roush a dust that POS 3900 pound Shelby. And if it has to say Shelby on it, get a Shelby GT and turbocharge it! I'd never get a GT500 unless I had lotsa cash ($??,000,000) and a big garage. Too many better cars for the $6$,$$$.$$+ price tag!!!

I watched a vid on youtube of a 2006 Z06 with less than $1500 in non-nitrous bolt-ons pull away from a Ford GT; we're talkin' a N/A $66,000 car + CAI + tune beating a $148,000 blower car. Z06 is good stuff!!!

All black wheels, not quite my thing. Gloss black rim, polished lip, DEFINITELY my thing!!! I HATE chrome, nothing against it on other people's cars, just much too loud looking on the rims for my personal taste. I like the way some chrome rims look, I just would rather have a black rim with a polished lip, or an aluminum rim with accent coloring on the spokes.

/\ for sure!!! pretty much any high-performance car with the right mods will outrun a higher-priced stock car, thats just the way it works. It is nearly always cheaper to do it yourself than it is to pay the OEM to do it, and we don't have to warranty our workmanship
