Whoohoo! Today's "Hump Day Holeshot" is made all the more impressive by the fact that it's a '07 Jeep Grand Cherokee buried deep into the 10's while weighing in at nearly 5,000-pounds! Coming from the factory with the venerable 6.1-liter HEMI, this all-wheel-drive SRT8 Jeep has been thoroughly worked over to be able to produce quarter-mile times worthy of the best street/strip muscle cars. Owner Keoni Stryhn's Jeep adds insult to injury as he passes you by doing so with a cabin full of friends!
Starting from the top down, the modifications on this Jeep are a virtual who's-who of modern late-model HEMI performance. Keoni let Bwoody Performance go to town on the '07 Jeep SRT8, starting with a Vortech V-3 Si-Trim Supercharger with a Charge Cooler bolted atop a PWR 393ci stroker HEMI. To play nice with the supercharger, new slugs dropped it down to 9:5.1 compression. A new set of PWR aluminum heads and a custom-ground camshaft, 80-pound injectors with a Bwoody fuel system, a Nitrous Express nitrous kit, and an HHP dyno tune total out the engine mods.
Kooks long-tube headers tunneling into Borla S exhaust funnel out the fumes while a Paramount Performance 8.8 rearend, transfer case, driveshaft, and transmission total the remaining drivetrain, ensuring that this Jeep can handle all the punch put out by the stroked, blown and flogged HEMI. Inside, a five-point roll cage and harness keeps Keoni strapped in place while high performance Nitto Tires keep the big rollers grabbing the asphalt.
Clicking off 10-second quarter mile times at nearly 130mph with 0-to-60 acceleration pulls in under three-seconds is the stuff of supercars. In a recent trip to Cecil County Dragway, Keoni explained, “My best that day was a 10.80 @ 127. I’m the 2nd fastest Jeep SRT8 in the world that I know of. I ran five 10 second passes and five low 11 second passes that night at the track, and the Vortech system worked flawlessly!”
