Anyone ever mess with a bowflex machine??
My bro-in-law has one that he is giving away. Right now I am using an old school bench with a bunch of attachments, but it's scary to try to lift heavy without a spotter.(I don't know how you guys with families make it to the gym all the time)
Anyways, the thing looks pretty cool but I sure don't need anything else taking up room and collecting dust cause it's a pile of shit. Any input??

It's better than nothing. If you have room for it, get it.
And lifting without a spotter isn't bad. I NEVER have a training partner and I move stupid weight around. The sense of know that if you drop the weight you could seriously fuck yourself up and/or kill yourself, helps you push harder.

I have heard nothing but good things about them. Are they the best NO, but when you look at space savings with all in 1 package they are really nice.

I disagree. I saw a guy that thought the same thing almost kill himself. His elbow snapped with 8 plates on the bar. He broke his sternum, 6 ribs, bruised his heart and crushed his larynx. He threw that kind of weight all the time, but he never did without a spotter after that day.

My neighbor has one. Hes still fat had it for about a year. paid like 1600 for it and i don't think he uses it. I have always been intrested in trying one to see if i can get that bowflex body.
I jumped on it a few times in his garage, Kinda feels weird when using it

Damn, that is a lot of money to spend on something you are not gonna use. That is why I never got a gym membership. Too much money, and I prolly won't go. I can't stand those people calling me after I just stopped in for some info. My stupid fault for giving my number though. They are fun to mess with though!! hehe

Well I got this fucker home and it's quite a contraption!! I don't have a book at all nor can I find any info about it online as far as setting it up, changing excercises, etc. It's a power pro XTL. It won't replace my freeweights but will definately add some flexibility on what I can do without going to the gym. I wouldn't have paid for it but you can't go wrong for free!!
And when folded up it only takes up about 2 foot square of floor space!!
Here's a pic I found of it online.

I've heard that they work pretty well actually.
Its hard with a family that is for sure. MY wife is wrapping up school this term and is carrying 16 credits at Wayne. I work full time, deal with a few clients on the side, and then get to train at the gym twice a week and then do some cardio at home when I get a chance. Its hard, but I'll be happy when its over and I can get back to the gym after work like I used to.

You're not kidding. Very hard to keep up with it, but I'm going on 5 weeks now LOL. That's a record for me, I don't know if I've done that since before I was married.
It feels good to be sore all the time. The good kind of soreness like the old days, not the "I can't fucking move" soreness of 5 weeks ago.
