Default Top Gear USA: First Official Trailer

If you’ve never heard of "Top Gear," you need to crawl out from the rock you’ve been living under and get a television. "Top Gear" is one of the most watched television programs in the world, and of course it has to do with cars. The antics of Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond have entertained untold millions despite their obvious hatred for anything not built by Germans or Italians. And now America is getting its very own version of "Top Gear."

We’ve heard bits and pieces of "Top Gear" rumors, and now we have the first “official” trailer from YouTube where our American hosts are challenged with running moonshine in $1,000 cars.

The cheap car challenges are a staple of British "Top Gear," so it makes sense such skits would come to America. Our hosts for a Colonial version of "Top Gear" are Tanner Foust, adrenaline junkie and rally racer, Rutledge Wood, an “entertainer” (who we have never heard of) and Adam Ferrara, a comedian. Personally, we were hoping to see Jay Leno and Adam Carolla, but these three seem to get along just fine.

We’re not sure if this scene is from the first episode, but our three presenters have to take their $1,000 cars across a moon shine test track. It looked like Ferrera went first in a very large Chrysler from the ‘70’s, going off course, over dirt mounds, and eventually bending his car in half on the track. Rutledge Wood, meanwhile, appears to have chosen a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. wise man if you ask us. "Top Gear" America premieres this fall on the History Channel. While many of the comments on the video are negative, we’re quite looking forward to this show (and hoping it lives up to its British fore-bearers).

Check out the American version of "Top Gear." It's 100% less douchey.
