O’FALLON, MO (August 2, 2010) - The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) has announced rule changes for its Pro Extreme Motorcycle class, effective Sept. 1.At that time, restrictions on fuel injection and nitrous systems will be lifted, allowing for better performances and less wear and tear on parts. With nitrous oxide carburetor motorcycles, entries will be limited to a maximum of one nitrous nozzle per cylinder. The nitrous nozzle will be limited to one inlet for nitrous and one inlet for fuel, and nitrous and fuel solenoids will be unrestricted. With nitrous oxide fuel-injected motorcycles, all entries will also be limited to a maximum of one nitrous nozzle per cylinder. That nozzle is limited to one inlet for nitrous only and may not have a fuel inlet on the nozzle.Nitrous solenoids are unrestricted, while fuel solenoids are prohibited on these fuel-injected entries.Limiting all motorcycle entries to one nitrous nozzle per cylinder is an ideal move to ensure maximum control on the motorcycles for the drivers and teams.“It’s time we bring current available technologies into the Pro Extreme Motorcycle class. Having the ability to mechanically progress the nitrous oxide will really help control the power that these machines create,” ADRL Director of Technical Services Tom Grooms said. “Being able to better control the fuel and nitrous will make these machines much smoother with more repeatable performances and, with the additional data collected, they will hurt less parts. It’s a no-brainer.”
