Scorpion Pro Street drew fifteen competitors to the famous Route 66 Raceway. After an intense three rounds of qualifying, Chris Rini topped the field with a 6.18 at 232 mph, followed by Joe Dunne who ran a 6.24, and coming in third on the list was John Sullivan with a 6.31. It was Billy Glidden and Joe Dunne who had the cars to beat this hot weekend, and both met up in the finals in a classic Chevy versus Ford match up. When the tree fell, a holeshot from Dunne and some tire slip from Glidden resulted in the Pat Musi-tuned Chevy getting the event win for the second year in a row. In the NMRA versus NMRA runoff, Dunne faced the NMRA’s Turbonetics Pro Outlaw winner, Mike Murillo.

In Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W, Mike Yedgarian ended up on the pole with his newly rebuilt Pontiac, running a 6.75 at 214 mph, but Nick Scavo, who qualified mid-pack, also had his sights set on the Nitto Diamond Tree Super Bowl Championship Ring. Both twin-turbo machines met in the finals and when the lights dropped, Scavo left on Yedgarian, but the Pontiac was able to outrun Scavo’s purple machine to get the win, the first for this Canadian team. Yedgarian raced the winner of ProCharger Super Street Outlaw, Sam Vincent, but lost.



ARP Nostalgia Pro Street drew a twenty-car field, with Dave Beeson topping the bunch for the second race in a row. Unfortunately he broke, and it was Kevin Parent and Jim Jarrett who rose to the top. The finals between these two resulted in a close match, but in the end, Parent prevailed with a 7.41 to 7.56 race. Parent then beat EFI Renegade racer Bob Cook in the Super Bowl shootout.

In Vortech Xtreme Street, Bill Trovato ran an 8.00 at 171 mph to qualify number one, followed by Jamie Stanton who ran 8.06 to get the second spot. Those two also ended up in the finals once again this year, but Stanton redlit, giving the win to Trovato. He was also able to take out NMRA Drag Radial winner Sean Lyon in the runoff.



In Comp Cams Pro Stock, teammates Greg Delaney and Skip Baskin met up in the finals with their clean Chevys. When the lights dropped, it was Baskin who was able to pass the Camaro in a close 8.57 to 8.59 match. Baskin, unfortunately lost to NMRA Hot Street winner Robbie Blankenship.
BFGoodrich Street Radial, eight cars showed up and Brad Schehr got the number one position with a 8.75, followed closely by Mike Fratena’s 8.79. Those two boosted cars also met in the finals, and Schehr got a slight holeshot and was able to squeak by Fratena for the event win. Schehr returned and blew the tires off and lost against Bruce Hemminger in the runoff.



Drag Racer Magazine Mean Street had six cars in attendance, with Don Baskin getting the number one spot with a 10.13. It came down to Jeremy Gillam and Baskin in the finals, but it was Baskin who prevailed running a 10.23 to take out Gillam’s red Mustang.

Baskin won his runoff against Eibach Springs Pure Street’s winner, Brandon Alsept.

In the index classes, Andy Warren won in FSC Nostalgia Muscle Car, in Eaton Posi Late Model EFI Dave Hounsel won, and in McCleod clutches Open Comp, Buick driver John Hixon won. In Indy Cylinder Head Nostalgia Super Stock, Russ Berens won when Jeff Meece broke out on a single. And the overall winner in the TREMEC True Street was Phil Delaney with a 9.73 average.
In the NMCA versus NMRA runoff, the NMRA side ultimately won, five to seven, which meant all the NMRA winners received Nitto Diamond Tree Championship rings. The NMRA now leads in Super Bowl wins, next year the Mustangs won’t be so lucky.
