Default First Inferno Orange 2011 'Vette Grand Sport Delivered

Ah, the Corvette Grand Sport; 3.95 zero-to-sixty, 26 miles to the gallon, and the subdued elegance of a circus fire. Rick "Corvette" Conti at Ganley Chevrolet of Aurora, Ohio, wants you to know that this 2011 Inferno Orange GS is the first one in the country like this, and kindly requests that you "CHECK OUT THE HASH MARKS!"

That's word-for-word from Rick's blog, and yes, it takes caps lock to properly convey the excitement of two strips of gray dealer-installed vinyl. Rick also admits, "Yes, she is an automatic, because not everyone is a race car driver, but in this one, at least you look like one."

No, Rick. In this one, you just look like you're at a point in your life where you can afford to spend between $60-$75 grand on a new car. Actually, all the racers we know drive hoopties on the street, now that we think about it. In case you're wondering, the GS adds wide-body styling, unique five-spoke wheels, and louvered fenders to the standard Y-body, and is powered by the 430hp LS3. The automatic is apparently new for 2011 - 2010 GS models were all strictly 6-speed manuals, as far as we can determine.

Of course, any current-model Corvette is undeniably awesome despite the regrettable cultural baggage 'Vette owners accumulated during the 80's and 90's. If we could afford one, we'd be all over it, but we're still trying to figure out the whole "monetize the web" thing and are consequently too broke to swing that car payment. Somebody, anybody, please go rescue this unique Grand Sport from Rick. Then drive out to SoCal and let us borrow it for a week or so, OK?
