Default fuel pump question!!!

i just got a SX performance fuel pump, its good up to 1000 HP but i am probally only running 400HP , the pump says its ok for all carb cars and im running a holley blue in my car now. ne1 have experiance with this type of stuff? my car is carbuerated and i have a regulator so if i put it to what i need it to will it flow the fuel ok or will it still be trying to push too much through? any help is appreciated.
