A police chase through two cities Wednesday morning ended with suspects jumping into a canal, according to police.
St. Clair Shores police were called to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle attempt on Larchmont Street at about 4 a.m., according to police. The culprits were not successful in their attempt, but police located one of their vehicles and attempted a traffic stop, police said.
The suspects fled from officers, and continued driving into Grosse Pointe Shores, where police used stop sticks to flatten the tires of the fleeing vehicle, police said. Officers were able to apprehend the suspects in the vehicle.
A second vehicle believed to be involved in the robbery attempt was also spotted by police. The suspects drove east on 11 Mile Road, and stopped their vehicle, police said. The suspects jumped into a canal, but officers were able to pull them out and make arrests.
Police did not release details on how many suspects were expected to face charges in connection with the incident.
