Default Al-Balooshi and Switzer Ready For Action In Qatar

DOHA, QATAR (Dec. 1, 2010) - The Beast from the Middle East is back and ready for Round 1 in the Arabian Drag Racing League Series. Khalid Al-Balooshi and Team Speedtech have settled in at the Qatar Race Club (QRC) and are ready to do battle with the other top Pro Nitrous teams on the grounds.??Renowned nitrous tuner Brandon Switzer leads Team Speedtech. Switzer will be tuning the Jerry Bickel-built 68 Camaro with Khalid Al-Balooshi behind the wheel. This Camaro won best appearing car for its beautiful paint job done by Jeff Hoskins at the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) LenMar Motorsports World Finals VI last month. Al-Balooshi, the 2009 PN World Champion in the ADRL, debuted the new Camaro at Rockingham Dragway for Dragstock ViI in September.Switzer and Al-Balooshi have been together for the last part of the 2010 race season in the United States and have traveled across the pond to Doha, Qatar for the ADRL Series. With the time to get the car ready for Qatar, Switzer and the talented Al-Balooshi both have high hopes for the eight-race series this winter.??“This team really started to come together the last few races over in the States,” Switzer said. “We have been working non-stop to get ready for the race season over here.” Round 1 of the Arabian Drag Racing League starts today, and is the first of three consecutive race weeks in December. Teams have been testing all week in what is a loaded Pro Nitrous field in Qatar. The weather has been beautiful and the track has been prepped to perfection, meaning there should be plenty of quick times from the likes of Al-Balooshi, Shannon Jenkins, 2010 PN World Champion Burton Auxier and several other talented drivers overseas.Al-Balooshi knows the competition will be tough, but he is excited to get started. “I have all the confidence in my team,” said Khalid Al-Balooshi. “We have been testing this week and the track is good. We have tried some new things. We have ran good numbers and we have shook some, but I have extreme confidence in Brandon and my team, no problem!”Al-Balooshi is just excited about the opportunity to be racing in Qatar again.??“We have a tough job ahead of us this race season,” Al-Balooshi said. “There are some of the best Pro Nitrous teams running over here, so there will not be much room for error.” Switzer has liked what he has seen thus far.“I am so proud of Al-Balooshi and of his confidence in driving the car. He has not skipped a beat since the World Finals in October,” Switzer said. “I want to say thank you to Sheikh Khalid Al Thani, the Country of Qatar and the ADRL for inviting us over here and giving us somewhere to race this off-season.”
