Default Any ideas for a budget towing/trailer package?

Ok here's the deal. My Cobra will have close to 500hp come spring, and will be on sticky tires. Its built pretty well, but as we all know stuff can break. I really would like to have that NOT happen 1.5hrs from home at Milan.

I'm set on eventually buying a open trailer, but wtf do I tow it with? I dont have anyone with a suitable towing vehicle I could borrow, and I doubt my Acura could handle it. I dont have space or funds for just a tow vehicle. And I def am not going to sell my Acura just to have a gas guzzling tow vehicle to drive all the time.

Any ideas?

I was thinking about going the Enterprise route, and renting a pickup to use for the track day, and just throwing on a ball. I dont know if their trucks have the tow package installed though.

Penske will only rent their trailers if you rent one of their trucks to go with it. So Penske seems like a reasonable option as you know you can get a trailer and truck together and be ready to rock. If you have AAA they give a discount for that too. Why buy a trailer if you don't have a tow vehicle though? I think step one should be to watch craig's list for a decent 15-20 year old two wheel drive V-8 truck you can snag cheap, then worry about the trailer part. You are going to spend way less renting a trailer than you will a truck and you problaby won't spend any more on an old beater truck than you would on a used trailer.

How many times are you planning on taking it to the track? if its only once or twice a year then you would probably be better off just renting a truck/trailer combo then buying stuff that your rarely going to use and then have to store somewhere in the off season

I'm going to have to agree with Bubba on this one though...Build it right and then drive it there and then drive it home

my pile maid it to Ubly and back so im sure your car can do it lol.. and that was even running on a cylinder that had 22 PSI of compression (didnt know this at the time)

What do the Penske trucks look like? Are they normal pickups or do they have logo's and shit all over them? Not that it matters that much, but still dont love the idea of rolling in the track looking like I am moving lol

And it SHOULD be able to do it without being towed. Its got a Detroit locker rear end, Tremec trans, and strong clutch. The thing is that if something does break, its gonna be a real expensive tow back home, and I often have to work on wednesday night, so I have to make it back home in a timely fashion.

Bubba can sling it on his truck if ya break down. You don't need the ground effects do ya?

You could get an older Ford,Chevy,Dodge pretty reasonable. I've been looking for trailers and you can get a nice used one for around $1000-$1200.

I have no idea what Penske's trucks look like. I just know the give a AAA discount so I called to check on the price of a trialer when I moved and they told me they only rent their trailers if you are towing them with their trucks which did me absolutely no good since I was only getting a trailer so I could get my truck and my car here in one trip. The car wouldn't have had any problem driving on it's own, it just couldn't tow the truck, lol.
