In one week, the final PT Cruiser will roll off the line. Introduced in 2000, the PT Cruiser was a surprising smash hit, selling 1.3 million PT’s over the decade. Catching on as a retro-cool around-the-town grocery getter, the car became something of a cult hit, spurring car clubs, an aftermarket and a slew of dedicated custom shops. Unfortunately, tastes change and people are pretty fickle, so Chrysler has had to shut down yet another model that was once widely popular.
Once one of the centerpieces of Chrysler's broad redesign program, the current PT has done little to evolve over the years. Now, as the curtain begins to descend, Chrysler is trying to pump a little more love into the family commuter.
