Default How to convert a Fox to 5-lug

I am going with a set of 5-lug Cobra wheels for my project.

What is an easy way to go 5-lug? I thought I remember having to use SVO Mustang rotors, and two axles from a Ranger, both RH or LH? plus drums?

I have the right drums and axles. Shoot me a pm if interested.

You need front rotors of a linc. Mark around 1988. They just bolt on like the 4 lug do. It depends on what wheels you are running, but you may have to convert the front to 94 or 95 spindles, hub and brakes to clear the reduced hub on the newer wheels.

I hope this helps. I can find a writeup if you need me to on the 94/95 stuff so you know what to get.

Converted my '82 to 5-lug. Got V8 spindles off a 87-93 5.0 because I had the 4-banger stuff. And used the Lincoln Mark VII rotors with no problem. Some rims won't work w/ the Lincoln rotors because of the hub-you won't be able to put the center cap on.

Rob, you ever do this? I can show what I had to do to my hub to get the center caps to fit using Lincoln rotors.

I have not done it yet. I have only gotten as far as picking up a set of Cobra 5-lug wheels.
I wonder what the difference between 4 cylinder spindles, and the V8 ones? My car has a carburated V8 in it, so it very well may have been an original 4 cylinder car.

I think you should be able to tell by the vin if it was original v8

the spindles on a 4 cyl, pre 87 car are thicker where the strut bolts to it

What year wheels? you may need to come up with shit from a 94 or 95 mustang, good news is the brakes are all the same on the 94/95s

It looks like you are going to need the 94-95 stuff.

If you need me to I can post a link to the tech article. I have it bookmarked along with a million other mustang tech articles...lol

I guess the only thing that causes trouble is the lower balljoint needs to be shimmed under the nut above the spindle. The rest is all parts swapping.

you dont need the 94-95 stuff if you dont mind modifying your hubs a little...im using 03 Anny wheels on Lincoln rotors on 93 GT spindles....with the center caps fitting perfect.

I ground the shit out of my rotors hubs and ran a spacer to get bullits to fit. The center cap barely fit with a ton of grinding.
