Now I got rod knock
Hold your "I told you so" for later with the starter fixed I can now hear a slight knock (only I can barely hear but I also know the sound of my motor) so I took her out for a drive and about 2 miles down the road the oil pressure slowly drops to about 20 psi at 3000 rpms and so I turn around to head home. At idle the pressure hovers at about 10 psi. With the motor how driven around and hot I checked the oil and theres a little bit of metal shavings. I guess I never heard it before because of the rattling starter and because I haven't driven her around. So I'm going to pull the engine maybe this weekend or next and take a look. I wonder if I can get away with new bearings, I'll have to check the journals. The knock isn't loud though but it can be heard when the engine and oil is hot.

My truck only has roughly 10 psi. at idle, 20 at 2000. Everyone that I ask says that's normal for a performance engine. 10psi for every 1000rpm. Who knows how true that is but I have zero knocks.

with 10psi per 1000 RPM you shouldn't have any problems. just make sure and go through EVERY little option before you start pulling your motor out..could be somthing very simple. does the knock get faster when the idle picks up?

That really blows. At least it gives you an excuse to pump up the powera a bit. Hope it all works out for you.
