The wind tunnel is certainly the best place to test a vehicle's aerodynamics. It is even more critical when you are developing a new race car. Aerodynamic improvements come into effect at relatively low speeds, so refinement is key to overall performance, particularly when fuel usage is an important part of race strategy.

Dodge Motorsports and Penske Racing have teamed up to develop Brad Keselowski's #22 NASCAR Nationwide Series Dodge Challenger R/T, using the Chrysler wind tunnel facility in Auburn Hills, MI. Additional support for the new racer comes from the Tech Center's Motorsports engine dyno lab.
Both Penske Racing and Dodge Motorsports are committed to the development effort. "To be able to showcase the Challenger going into Nationwide, this is a big step for NASCAR," explains Roger Penske.
The new car is scheduled to appear July 2, at Daytona International Raceway.
