Default heat question

on my 95 ram it does not blow heat unless you are driving. thought it might have been heater core but it dont leak, it may be clogged not sure. its full of anti freeze, it is a v10 motor. are they prone to having air pockets or no? also the cat is rattling at idle, it sounds like its coming from inside the cat itself, if i have them cut off and a pipe welded in place will it fuck with the emission shit and make the check engine light come on?

i would try to reverse the 2 hoses that go into the heater core, it does sound like its clogged. as for the cat, you can get rid of it and nothing will go bananas as long as the o2 sensor is before the cat.

I would guess a partially clogged heater core, or air in the system.

Grab the heater hoses when the truck is hot. They should be the same temp. If one is hotter than the other the heater is clogged. If it is clogged you can backflush it with a garden hose. I would get a good power flush done on the whole system too. They can power flush the heater too, but if it's weak, it will blow. If the heater is clogged than you have a bunch of shit floating around the whole cooling system and it will probably just get clogged again. Just keep in mind, that floating shit will seal leaks. If you get it flushed there is always the chance of a leak sprouting up. There is a place on that side of town called HEATEX on common road that does rad shit. I'm not sure if they do service stuff but they could point you in the right direction if not.

i got a 96 and 94 v10 ram and both did this it was due to air pockets in the hoses and if my coolant was even a little bit low it would not blow heat it sucked till i figured it out cuase ones a plow truck. i alway have had trouble with rattling as well but i found it to be where the exhaust manifold conects to the pipes the springs and doughnut that connect them go bad and rattle and leak exhaust hope this helps
