Insanely Custom “Roman Chariot” Corvette For Sale
 

We remember being kids, and the thrill of going to the toy store and heading straight for the Hot Wheels aisle. There were more cars there than we could count to, but we’d always find something interesting. While some cars were based on actual vehicles, many others were crazed concoctions that seemed too wild for real life.

However, if you’ve always wanted a real life Hot Wheels, now is your chance. Jalopnik is reporting that Jerry Roman’s “Roman Chariot” is up for sale on Jameslist, and it is as close to a drivable Hot Wheels car as we’ve ever seen.

It might be hard to believe (or see), but this car began as a 1968 big block Corvette. Jerry built this car to show off his talent and customization skills, and there can be no doubt that he is an amazing automotive artist. The Chariot took over 10,000 man hours, and six months to complete. The car was basically built anew from the ground up. 60 different pieces were molded from fiberglass to build this wild body, and the louvers over the headlights took ten days each just to complete.

Jerry wanted his car to stick out, so he went with some outrageous design choices. For example, he insisted that the engine stick out over the windshield, thus he decided to use a tunnel ram intake. As though that wasn’t enough, he also chopped the windshield. Vents were cut into the side of the body to help cool the engine, the nose was extended quite a bit, and a custom “Roman Wine” color was painted on the car.

The car is up for sale through Best of Show Automotive, who are asking just $79,900 for this work of art.
