Detroit Area Trans Shop

I'm looking around for a reputable shop in the Metro-Area that has experience building transmissions.

I have an 07 Trailblazer SS with the 4L70E 4 speed auto. Looking into possibly doing the following upgrades (and more):

*Sun Shell
*Shift kit
*Servos
*Stall Converter

Any help is appreciated!

I'm not sure of anyone in the local area. I've had good luck with Joel's on Joy for race transmissions, but not sure if they're familiar with the 4l60/4l70. If you find someone, please post up. I have a 4l60 that works great, but want to get it beefed up anyhow while the car is apart.

I know RPM transmissions in Indiana is very good, but wanted to avoid the shipping if possible.

Ya, RPM is a very reputable company. I thought about driving down, having them install it, and drive back up.

Do do you own that has a 4l60?

It's an LS1 Camaro. It's just a beater, was trying to make it last as cheaply as possible.

I can also vouch for them, I have sent several people there and all had great success . They recently did my friends tranny in his diesel after he blew it several times, no troubles for a few months and he has never been happier.

I found a good guy I'm going to try out, his name is Mike Ridings, PM me for his number.

He's very good with all the GM overdrive transmissions as well as the older boxes. He pricing sounded very reasonable also. He built the trans for Val's Firebird, and I think Leo's Camaro also.

Thanks Fryguy.

I've delt with him too. Traded bellhousings(which he installed free) and adjusted the bands too. If I decide to go with a trans brake I'll be doing more business with him.
