is this maf hurting me?

ok my recent track times were utterly dissapointing.

this car is running 7 tenths slower than my '89 and setup the same way.

now here's the deal..... it has a supercoupe mass air meter on it, i ran the numbers and it is for sure.

also smells superphat. i blamed the lt's and no cats, but harsher than i remember in my old car.

fuel pressure is 32 psi at idle, vac on.

so i'm wondering if this maf is causing a super rich condition that is robbing power?????

That very well may be... another thing too that will cause that is a bad coolant temp sensor. The ecm will think the car is running hotter/colder and try to compensate.

You'll need access to a real time scanner to read the sensor values to see if its off.

If you can borrow a MAF somewhere that might be worth a try.

yeah i'm thinking i can just pick one up really cheap.

they have virtually no value anyways.

good call on the sensor, i'll keep it mind as well.

Bob,

Are you still running 19lb. injectors?

'89-'92 SC's Have a 55mm MAF and 30lb. injectors
'93-'95 SC's Have a 70mm MAF and 36lb. injectors

You will either have to recalibrate the MAF to work with your injectors or go with larger injectors (IMHO would be too large for a stock 5.0).

hey whatup steve-o

yeah still the 19's

i scored a stocker maf and seems much better now.
